MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -
October
06,
1997 -
Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) today announced that it has licensed WestCode Software's OneClick Shortcut Technology as the basis for the streamlined interface in the new version of Quicken 98 for Macintosh, which will be available to customers beginning October 23, 1997. "WestCode's OneClick Shortcut Technology gives Quicken 98 for Macintosh customers even more ways to save time and steps," said Adam Samuels, Quicken Product Manager. "Early users of the new version tell us they love being able to access their most recently used accounts with just the click of a button."
The OneClick Shortcut Technology is a runtime version of WestCode's award-winning consumer product, OneClick. The consumer version automates and simplifies any Macintosh application or Mac OS operation with customizable floating button palettes, embedded toolbars, or keyboard combinations.
"Our OneClick runtime technology provides developers like Intuit, with a reliable and cost effective way to quickly and easily upgrade a products user interface," said John Oberrick, WestCode Executive Officer.
OneClick Enables One-Click Internet Access From Quicken 98 For the first time in Quicken 98 for Macintosh, users have the ability to access the Internet from within Quicken. Customers who have Web access -- through an Internet Service Provider along with their preferred browser -- will discover new capabilities to move beyond organization towards making smarter financial decisions to save time and money. A single click on the Quicken Basic 98 icon bar links the user to their browser, and connects them to Intuit's website for the latest product and personal finance information. Quicken Deluxe 98 includes links to other Intuit sites, where customers can track their investments, and search for great deals on insurance and mortgage loans. Intuit previously used OneClick as the basis for creating the customizable iconbars in Quicken 7 for Macintosh, and has extended this relationship with the release of Quicken 98. "We've found WestCode's OneClick technology to be extremely flexible and reliable," said Samuels. "It made perfect sense to base this year's enhancements on the solid foundation we've established with WestCode."
"OneClick is a powerful tool that's easy to work with," said Bob Heldt, Quicken Engineering Manager. "We've used the OneClick software for over a year now, and continue to rely on our relationship with WestCode in this new release of Quicken."
