SAN DIEGO/REDWOOD CITY, CA - February 23, 1998 -

Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU) and Excite (NASDAQ: XCIT) today announced the addition of TurboTaxÒ Online, the most complete Internet-based personal tax preparation program for consumers, to the Excite Business & Investing Channel by Quicken.com (www.quicken.excite.com). Visitors to the channel can now quickly prepare and file their personal tax return via the Web, in addition to using other integrated tools and content to help consumers make the most of their money.

"Each year, more taxpayers are looking to the Internet for resources, advice and tools to help ease the annual tax preparation process," said Larry Wolfe, senior vice president of Intuit's tax division. "Intuit's tax expertise and the power of Excite's programming now offer a robust tax solution which is easy to access [and use]."

Building on Intuit's award-winning EasyStepÒ Interview approach, TurboTax Online asks taxpayers friendly, easy-to-understand questions. And since there's no need to download or install software, taxpayers simply need access to any PC, with Web access and running on the Windows 95 or NT operating system, to prepare and file their taxes anytime, anywhere.

"Consumers come to Excite for many things," said Brett Bullington, executive vice-president of strategic and business development. "We want to offer them the tools they need to accomplish life tasks easily and quickly on the Business and Investing Channel. Excite lets consumers cut through the paperwork and do their taxes online, anytime, from anywhere."

TurboTax Online costs $9.95, and includes electronic filing. California state returns can be prepared and filed for an additional $4.95. Intuit guarantees its TurboTax Online calculations are accurate. In the unlikely event a customer is assessed an IRS or state penalty due to a calculation error in TurboTax, Intuit will pay the penalty plus interest.
