Intuit is pleased to join NOVUS Services and the IRS in enabling TurboTax® and MacInTax® customers, who file electronically, to now electronically pay their balance due using a NOVUS card, including the Discover® Card.
Larry Wolfe, Intuit’s senior vice president, Tax Products Division says, "We are proud to be setting the pace in tax software by working together with NOVUS Services and the IRS on this proposal. Intuit is the first and only tax software company to offer the integrated convenience of credit card tax payments to American taxpayers. This is one of many steps we have taken to make electronic filing faster and easier for TurboTax customers.
The service will be available to Intuit customers who electronically file their return using TurboTax or MacInTax desktop software for tax year 1998. All returns filed electronically are sent directly and securely from Intuit to the IRS.
This IRS approved proposal is, in part, another response to requests from the IRS and others to encourage and promote electronic filing. The IRS has a publicly stated goal of increasing electronic filing from less than 20 percent of all returns filed today to 80 percent by the year 2007. Intuit believes this program will help increase demand for electronic filing of all returns.
