Quicken.com Launches New Investment Tools
Now Investors Have Access to the Same Tools Used by the Wall Street Pros
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - October 26, 1998 - To help consumers get a handle on Wall Street's recent roller coaster ride, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) today announced that its leading personal finance web site, Quicken.com (www.Quicken.com) now has more new investment tools to help consumers make more confident investing and financial decisions. These new investment tools expand Quicken.com’s already extensive investment channel offerings that were at one time only available to Wall Street professionals. The new and improved investment features include portfolio analysis, stock search, mutual fund finder, stock evaluator, insider trading and enhanced news and research.

"Given the fluctuations in the market, consumers are looking for information and tools to make confident financial and investment decisions," said Tapan Bhat, Group Product Manager for Quicken.com. "As the leading personal finance Web site, we will continue to empower consumers with free financial information and tools."

In addition to these new investment tools, a new Life Events Channel allows consumers to understand and plan ahead for the financial impact of various life events, with step-by-step planners for college, retirement, wedding budgeter, and parenting financial guides.

The key new Quicken.com investment features include:

  • Portfolio Analysis: Helps consumers understand their overall portfolio situation so they can make better decisions about where to allocate investments. Offers easy-to-read pie charts of your portfolio's sector and asset allocation and risk return characteristics. This is an updated feature of Quicken.com's first-of-its-kind Portfolio Analysis.
  • Stock Search: Improved to help consumers find stocks that meet their investment criteria, it now includes a step-by-step wizard and explanations of performance measures for all levels of investors.
  • Stock Evaluator: Enables consumers to compare stocks and evaluate them for purchase through graphical comparisons of commonly used fundamental measures.
  • Mutual Fund Finder: Allows experienced consumers to conduct detailed searches, and also caters to the less experienced investor, by providing them with a step-by-step personalized educational experience.
  • Insider Trading: Allows consumers to see what corporate insiders are buying and selling. This may help indicate potential buy and sell opportunities for consumers.
  • News and Research: Providing consumers with up-to-date information, it now includes selected online investment and financial news commentary from CBS MarketWatch and The Street.com. The new print article archive has access to more than 1,000 print publications, dating back four years. Now integrated with Quicken.com's business news feeds, consumers are one click away from all the research they could need.
