Who should be the first living woman on the dollar bill? The question, proposed by Quicken.com (www.Quicken.com), Intuit's (NASDAQ: INTU) leading personal financial Web site, asked Americans who should be the first woman honored with her picture on the dollar bill. The winner? Not Hillary Clinton, not Oprah Winfrey, but the everyday American woman.
Via a vote of more than 1,400 respondents, wives, sisters, mothers, aunts and grandmothers beat out the biggest policymakers, celebrities and stars to become the first American woman honored with a special limited-edition dollar bill. These genuine, legal-tender and limited-edition bills will be sold through Mother's Day, and Quicken.com will donate all proceeds to the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO).
The Financial Angel
To celebrate and honor American women, Quicken.com, with permission from the U.S. Treasury has replaced George Washington with an angel, representing the extraordinary women in our lives that have supported and guided us - financially and otherwise - on a limited-number of U.S. dollar bills. These genuine, limited edition "Financial Angel" dollar bills will be sold for $2.50 from today through Mother's Day. All proceeds from the sale of the bills will benefit NABCO.
The collectable and spendable "Financial Angel" dollar bills come with a Mother's Day card and envelope that can be purchased via the Internet at Quicken.com (http://www.quicken.com/angel) or by calling 1-888-242-4748 between the hours of 8AM-5PM EDT. The dollar bill and gift card set is a great idea for consumers to give the woman in their life a unique Mother's Day gift and help all women win the fight against breast cancer.
"Women are America's financial angels and everyday heroes," said Tony Cook, managing editor of Quicken.com. "Quicken.com celebrates their accomplishments and financial sacrifices with the Financial Angel gift card set. We all remember our moms giving us allowances or extra money when we went to the store so we could pick up something special for ourselves. We are proud that Quicken.com can recognize these acts of kindness and work with such a worthy charity as NABCO."
"Every woman needs an angel," said Amy Langer, executive director of NABCO and a 14-year breast cancer survivor. "Quicken.com and women everywhere can now honor the value of financial support, good breast health and charitable giving that will expand NABCO's programs."
