Intuit Dedicates New Facility To Tucson Employees And Expands Commitment To Local Community
TUCSON, AZ - July 12, 1999 - State and local dignitaries, together with more than 1200 Intuit employees, are dedicating Intuit Inc's. (NASDAQ: INTU) new 135,000 square-foot Southwest customer service and support facility to Intuit's Tucson employees today. Intuit is the tenth largest employer in Southern Arizona, according to Inside Tucson Business - Book of Lists.

"We know it is unusual for a company to dedicate a workplace building to its employees, but we want to show our employees that we are proud of their contributions, that we appreciate them and that we value them as members of the Intuit family," said Bill Harris, president and CEO of Intuit. "The dedication of this building represents our commitment to them and to the community that we are a part of."

Intuit's Tucson Operations Consolidated Under One Roof
The expansive new facility unifies Intuit's two previously separate Tucson facilities in a single building, and consolidates all of Intuit's call center, customer support and service and direct sales support groups under one roof. Currently, Intuit's Tucson services & support center receives an average of more than 21,500 customer support calls per day during peak months.

Intuit Tucson, recently ranked Arizona's #1 software company by Arizona Magazine, distinguishes itself from traditional call centers by providing employees with benefits including professional skill development, reimbursement for home internet connections, interest-free personal computer loans, end-of-season celebrations and free newly released products.

"Intuit has been an active member of Tucson's business community for six years, and we are thrilled that they have centralized their entire Southwest customer support operation here," said Larry Cummings, Business Development Specialist with the City of Tucson Office of Economic Development. "This new facility represents a significant commitment to Tucson and to the local business community, and is an important step in building the local job base. Intuit is setting a good example for support centers and for other Tucson businesses and we are proud to have them as a member of our community."

Employees Embrace New Facility and Programs
The Tucson facility features a fitness center, walking trails, a full service cafeteria with outside patio, and a variety of on-site educational and recreational activities.

"I am extremely impressed with our new facilities. With all the amenities Intuit provides to us, the company truly lives up to its corporate motto - It's the People," said Patsy Nations, web operations manager in Intuit's Internet Services department. "I really value the fact that I can work out during lunch or a break without having to go to an offsite gym after work. Being able to work out here also helps me reduce stress and maintain a balance in my life. This facility is just one example of how Intuit strives to provide an environment in which people flourish."

Intuit and Employees Partner with Tucson Habitat for Humanity
Intuit's dedication of the facility to its employees represents another dimension of the company's local presence and corporate culture. As part of today's dedication and commitment to the community, Intuit, joined by building developer Diamond Ventures, is announcing a partnership with the Tucson chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Both Intuit and Diamond will donate seed money to help Habitat for Humanity build a house in the area. Over the next year, Intuit employees will raise the remaining funds through a series of projects to be sponsored by Intuit's employee-run We Care and Give Back Committee.

"I am very pleased to represent Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors in this partnership with Intuit," said Bob Minton, president of the board of directors for the Tucson chapter of Habitat for Humanity. "For Intuit to build a Habitat home after building their new home here in Tucson is an incredibly generous demonstration of support for the entire community here. The timing couldn't be more appropriate.

This community partnership reflects one of Intuit's core values as a company, and is in keeping with the company's commitment to Habitat for Humanity and other community service groups in Tucson and elsewhere.
