Company´s Y2K Website Designed to Make it Easy For Customers To Obtain Y2K Information And Free Software Updates For Intuit´s U.S. Products And Services.
Mountain View, Calif. - July 20, 1999 - Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU), today announced newly revised Y2K information resources and U.S. software updates designed to help users of Intuit products prepare for the new millennium. Intuit's newly redesigned Year 2000 Resource Center, on the web at www.intuit.com/y2k, is intended to make it even easier now for Intuit's U.S. customers to address their individual Y2K needs.

"Y2K readiness is a big focus for Intuit. By summer 1999, all significant U.S. Intuit products and services will either meet Intuit standards for Y2K compliance or new Y2K solutions will be available for our customers," said Steve Thurlow, Y2K program director at Intuit. "Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center is designed so customers can quickly determine if their Quicken, QuickBooks and other Intuit software meets Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard. The website also provides customers with the quickest and easiest way to obtain new, free software updates for Intuit products that have currently known Y2K issues or that have not been tested."

Intuit's Commitment to Y2K Compliance
Intuit has completed testing on a variety of its most recent U.S. products for Year 2000 compliance. Intuit is using its website as the primary vehicle for communicating Year 2000 information about U.S. products, and distributing solutions that meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard. Customers who do not have access to the web can call Intuit Customer Service at 1-888-Y2K-3335 (1-888-925-3335) to determine the status of their Intuit software and obtain information about Y2K update options. Customers can also use Intuit's Fax-on-Demand service to obtain comprehensive Y2K information packets about specific product lines. (1-800-644-3198; select document # 10,001 for the Quicken product line; 10,002 for the QuickBooks product line; and 10,003 for the TurboTax product line.) Intuit is urging customers to obtain and install any necessary Y2K solutions before October 31, 1999 if possible to avoid the potential end-of-year rush.

  • Quicken and Year 2000 Compliance. All Quicken customers in the U.S. either have a version that meets Intuit's Year 2000 Compliance Standard or can easily obtain one via Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center. The two most recent versions of Quicken for Windows (versions 98 and 99) and Quicken 98 for Macintosh meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliance Standard. Intuit is offering Quicken 98 for Windows or Macintosh as a Year 2000 solution to customers who have older, non-compliant versions of Quicken.

Customers can obtain a Quicken Y2K solution via a free download from Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center or order a CD or floppy disk version from the same web site. Customers will be charged a shipping and handling fee for the CD and floppy versions. Online banking customers with known Y2K issues will receive a solution that meets Intuit's Year 2000 Compliance Standard from either their financial institution or from Intuit.

  • QuickBooks and Year 2000 Compliance. All QuickBooks customers in the U.S. either currently have solutions that meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard or they will be able to receive a free solution that meets the standard. Intuit and/or customers' financial institutions will be directly contacting all registered customers using a version of QuickBooks with known Y2K issues.

The three most recent versions of QuickBooks (99, 6.0 and 5.0) for Windows meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard. Registered customers with previous PC\Windows versions or Mac versions are eligible to receive free solutions that meet the Standard and provide equal or greater functionality than the prior software version. Registered QuickBooks customers who use online banking or payroll services are being sent Y2K solutions. QuickBooks 6.0 and 5.0 users can download free update patches directly from within their QuickBooks software.

  • TurboTax/MacInTax and Year 2000 Compliance: Tax Year 1998 versions of TurboTax and MacInTax were tested and meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard. Future versions will also be designed to meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard.

Versions of TurboTax and MacInTax for Tax Years 1993 - 1997 do not require a user to enter dates on or after the year 2000 and do not have any currently known Y2K issues. Intuit believes that year 2000 testing is not applicable to these products.

Other Intuit Products and Year 2000 Compliance
Customers who have questions about other Intuit U.S. products can visit Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center at www.intuit.com/y2k. Information about Intuit's international products is available at the company's respective international websites.

Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard
Intuit considers products and services to meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard when they are able to calculate, sequence and present dates within a specified operating range (including from 1999 to 2000) and respond to two-digit date entries in a defined manner. A Y2K solution (other than a replacement product) may be required for this status, and products or services that meet the standard may have identified minor issues. For the complete standard, see www.intuit.com/y2k.
