To help consumers make smarter investing decisions, Quicken Deluxe 2000 includes an enhanced Quotes Download feature. This allows users to download, free of charge, up to five years of stock and mutual fund quotes simultaneously from Quicken.com to keep track of their portfolio's value and monitor historical trends. Users can also stay informed of late-breaking news and research on the stocks they are following by taking advantage of point-and-click access to current news and research from Quicken.com.
Quicken Deluxe 2000 also helps users get answers to specific questions about their personal financial goals such as "Can I retire when I want to," or "How much house can I afford." Through a series of step-by-step online life event planners, users can establish goals, obtain feedback on their progress against their goals, find answers to questions about key life events, and try a variety of "what if" scenarios, to see how taking a particular action could affect their plan. QuickAnswer Calculators via Quicken.com help users quickly see which decisions would be best for their financial situation and, through mortgage, insurance and bank rate comparisons, enable users to shop online for great rates in these areas. According to Lexware management, the Intuit-Lexware agreement will further drive Lexware's growth. Under the terms of the five-year agreement, Lexware will serve existing Intuit customers as well as bring future Intuit products to the German marketplace. Lexware intends to continue marketing all existing Intuit and Lexware brands.
Helps Users Gain Better Insight Into Their Finances
A new Insights window in Quicken Deluxe 2000 brings helpful suggestions, reports and graphs, together in one place with connections to up-to-date Web resources. This new startup window lets users see at a glance how their finances are doing to they can take the appropriate actions to learn more and potentially earn more.
A streamlined interface makes managing users' finances faster and easier than ever. Based on customer suggestions, the new design brings together commonly used controls, making it easier to find the most frequently used features. Users can even customize Quicken to fit their specific needs. Quicken Deluxe 2000 reduces data entry by enabling customers to download transactions from more financial institutions than before including dozens of Canadian and small community banks, credit unions, and credit card companies. Users can also send online payments to anyone from most U.S. checking accounts, eliminating the hassle of stamps, envelopes and post office trips.
Palm Pilot users will also find it easy to keep track of their finances while on the road. Pocket Quicken for Palm organizers (available separately from LandWare, Inc.) conveniently tracks expenses while away from home and a simple HotSync will automatically update Quicken 2000 data when users return home to their desktop computer.
Filing taxes online is even easier with Quicken Deluxe 2000 for Macintosh. The product includes free electronic filing of one Federal return via mail-in rebate using Intuit's WebTurboTax electronic filing Web site. Filing online is a faster and easier way to file a tax return, and customers usually receive refunds more quickly.
Availability and Pricing
Quicken Deluxe 2000 will be generally available in leading retail stores throughout the U.S. in early September 1999. Beginning on August 1, 1999, Quicken 2000 will be pre-sold in participating retail stores. Quicken 2000 will also be sold directly via the web at http://www.quicken2000.com.
The suggested retail price for Quicken Deluxe 2000 is $59.95 minus a $20.00 rebate for upgraders.
