As more and more consumers shop online this holiday season, where do people go to make sure they are getting great deals? Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU) announced today the launch of a number of tools on the Shopping Channel on Quicken.com (www.Quicken.com/shopping) which help consumers make the most of their online shopping dollars this holiday season. Included in the new features announced today are:
- Quicken Shopper's new Comparison Cart feature, which helps consumers to find the best total price and buying scenario for multiple products from over 200 leading online stores;
- a group-buying service that pools consumer demand for products and services to lower prices; and
- Onsale.com auctions section for computer products, consumer electronics, and office equipment offered by Egghead.com.
"The Shopping Channel on Quicken.com helps holiday shoppers figure out what to buy, where to buy it, and how much to pay for it," said Janine Schenone, senior producer for Quicken.com's Shopping Channel. "From one Web page, users can compare prices at leading online stores, read unbiased reviews of product and services written by the people who use them, and use group-buying or auction services to get lower prices on popular products."
Quicken Shopper Comparison Cart Finds the Best Deals for Multiple Products
In September, Intuit launched Quicken Shopper, a next-generation shopping bot that follows online shoppers in their online browsing and offers price comparisons on leading products: books, music, video, toys, computers and electronics. After downloading and installing the small Quicken Shopper applet (the typical download takes 15-30 seconds), shoppers can browse at over 200 leading online stores. When they find a product they want to buy, they click the Quicken Shopper cart icon in their Windows system tray, and a web page displays prices (including tax and shipping) from the participating online vendors that sell the same product.
With Quicken Shopper's new Comparison Cart feature, online shoppers can get the best deal on several products at once while browsing at multiple online stores. While shopping online, consumers add products to their personal Comparison Cart. When they're ready to buy, they return to their Comparison Carts, choose their preferred shipping options and the number of merchants they're willing to go to get the best deals. Then Quicken Shopper calculates the best total price for the product combination, including tax and shipping. The Comparison Cart currently accepts books, movies, music, and computer hardware and software. The Quicken Shopper applet is available for download at http://quicken.clickthebutton.com.
Quicken Shopper is developed through an agreement between Intuit and ClickTheButton.com.
Group Buying Gives Consumers Volume Purchasing Power
Quicken.com's Shopping Channel now offers a group buying service that offers substantial savings on many products through an Internet-based network. Powered by Accompany, the network pools buyers from across the Web and passes along to a supplier a substantial volume order. Because of this volume - and because the consumers have worked together to drive the price down - suppliers offer significant savings to the network. The Shopping Channel offers group purchases for the following types of products: Computers, electronics, entertainment, home, garden, small office/home office, sports and travel.
Thousands of Computer Products, Consumer Electronics and Office Equipment Available through Online Auction
Intuit joined forces with Egghead.com to sell thousands of computer products, consumer electronics and office equipment through Onsale.com auctions at Quicken.com's Shopping Channel. For shoppers wary of equipment sold by unknown individuals at other online auctions, here's a way to bid for technology related products sold by a leading Internet retailer.
New Product and Service Reviews Written by Consumers and Experts
When you're shopping for a computer or a car, who would you rather consult--a salesperson or 40 people who have bought and used the product you're considering? In September, Quicken.com's Shopping Channel launched a product reviews area, powered by Epinions.com. The area includes expert reviews as well as reviews written by consumers who have used the products and services. For harried holiday shoppers trying to make a quick decision about a toy or cell phone, the Shopping Channel's product reviews area offers them an opportunity to survey a variety of opinions quickly. The reviews are rated by the online community, so consumers don't have to wade through unhelpful messages. Recently, Quicken.com added new product review areas: Home Appliances, Kids and Family, and Services (such as cell phone services and online brokerages). Since its launch, the Shopping Channel's reviews area has covered computers, electronics, autos, sports, books, movies, music, and travel.
The Shopping Channel on Quicken.com is at www.Quicken.com/shopping/.
