Company's Y2K Web Site Designed to Make it Easy For Customers to Obtain the Latest Free Y2K Solutions For Intuit's U.S. Products And Services Before the New Millennium Begins
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - December 06, 1999 - Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) today encouraged customers to obtain and install any necessary Y2K solutions for Intuit products before December 31, 1999, in order to avoid the potential "Y2K rush" that might occur after the new year begins. Customers still using older versions of Quicken(r) and QuickBooks(r) software are especially reminded to visit Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center on the Web in order to take advantage of one of Intuit's various Y2K solutions at no charge. Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center, located at www.intuit.com/y2k, debuted earlier this year and is intended to make it easy for Intuit's U.S. customers to address their individual Y2K needs.

"We are encouraging Quicken and QuickBooks customers to obtain and install any Y2K solutions they may need before December 31, 1999 in order to prevent any unnecessary performance issues that could occur with older software after the new year begins," said Steve Thurlow, Y2K program director at Intuit. "Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center is designed so customers can quickly determine if their Quicken, QuickBooks and other Intuit software meets Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard. The Web site also provides customers with the quickest and easiest way to obtain free software updates for Intuit products that have currently-known Y2K issues or that have not been tested."

Intuit's Commitment to Y2K Compliance
Intuit has completed testing on a variety of its most recent U.S. products for Year 2000 compliance. Intuit is using its Web site as the primary vehicle for communicating Year 2000 information about U.S. products, and distributing solutions that meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard. Customers who do not have access to the Web can call Intuit's automated Y2K Hotline at 1-888-Y2K-3335 (1-888-925-3335) to determine the status of their Intuit software and obtain information about specific Y2K solutions. Customers can also use Intuit's Fax-on-Demand service to obtain Y2K information about specific product lines. (1-800-644-3198; select document # 10,001 for the Quicken product line; #10,002 for the QuickBooks product line; and #10,003 for the TurboTax product line.)

All Quicken customers (including current Quicken 98, 99 and Quicken 2000 users) are encouraged to visit Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center periodically to obtain the latest information about any Y2K updates. Customers will be charged a shipping and handling fee for the CD or floppy disk version.

  • QuickBooks and Year 2000 Compliance: All QuickBooks customers in the U.S. either currently have solutions that meet Intuit's Year 2000 Compliant Standard or can easily obtain one via Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center. All registered QuickBooks customers with previous DOS, Windows or Mac versions are eligible to receive free solutions which meet the Standard and provide equal or greater functionality than the prior software version. All QuickBooks customers (including current QuickBooks 5.0, 6.0 and QuickBooks 99 users) are encouraged to visit Intuit's Year 2000 Resource Center periodically to obtain the latest information about any Y2K updates. Versions of TurboTax and MacInTax for Tax Years 1993 - 1997 do not require a user to enter dates on or after the year 2000 and do not have any currently known Y2K issues. Intuit believes that year 2000 testing is not applicable to these products.
