Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU), developer of the #1-selling Quicken® TurboTax® and Quicken MacInTax® family of tax preparation software and services, today announced the availability of Quicken TurboTax State and Quicken MacInTax State for tax year 1999. TurboTax/MacInTax State products make preparation and filing easier and faster than with paper and pencil, and are available for download now from the TurboTax Website (www.turbotax.com). TurboTax State is expected to be at retail by the first week of February.
Free via rebate to TurboTax/MacInTax Deluxe and TurboTax/MacInTax Home & Business customers, TurboTax State and MacInTax State products are available for all 44 states (plus the District of Columbia) that impose an income tax. TurboTax/MacInTax State now offers electronic filing for 38 states - more than any other desktop program.
"For the majority of Americans, tax preparation includes both federal and state returns," said Bob Meighan, vice president of the Intuit Consumer Tax Group. "TurboTax State enables taxpayers to automate the entire tax preparation and filing process quickly and easily, especially for those who electronically file for the fastest refund."
All the pertinent state information entered into any federal TurboTax program automatically flows to the necessary areas in TurboTax State, making the entire tax preparation process as effortless as possible. Users need only answer any additional state-specific questions that may arise. The improved TurboTax State EasyStep® Interview walks users through state-specific areas, eliminating guesswork and maximizing deductions.
This year, there are tax credits available in many states, including credits for dependent care expense, college tuition and taxes paid to other states. To ensure taxpayers take advantage of the credits that apply to them, TurboTax State checks for any data required in addition to that which is automatically transferred from the TurboTax federal program.
