Quicken.comTM Makes it Easy for All Investors to Evaluate Stocks with a New One-Click Stock Scorecard and Enhanced Portfolio
Improved Bill Manager Delivers All Bills Online, Eliminates Paper Forever
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - November 14, 2000 - Amid recent volatility in the U.S. stock market and fiscal uncertainties presented by the election of a new administration, Intuit's (NASDAQ: INTU) leading e-finance site, TMQuicken.com (www.quicken.com), today launched several core components in its ongoing strategy to revolutionize how quickly, confidently and effectively Americans can manage their finances. The new features reinforce Quicken.com's suite of solutions focused on eliminating the time and hassles from mandatory tasks like paying bills, and making complex decisions - such as evaluating stocks - easy. One-Click Scorecard, a new feature unique to Quicken.com, replaces hours of investment research by instantly showing investors an easy-to-understand professional evaluation of any stock they're interested in. Quicken.com's Enhanced Portfolio, one of the most comprehensive free investment tracking tool on the Web, offers investors increasingly easy portfolio analysis and timely news, and the ability to set up and track investments effortlessly by downloading account data from more brokerages than any other personal finance site. Quicken.com also introduced an improved Quicken Bill Manager enabling consumers to receive and pay all bills online - helping to eliminate paper bills forever.

"The average consumer spends 155 hours a year managing their finances. People just want the task of paying bills to be as fast and easy as possible. Investing is the key area where people who want to manage their own finances need help understanding their choices to make the right call," said Roy Rosin, Quicken.com's director of marketing. "The new Quicken Bill Manager dramatically cuts the time and effort people need to spend paying bills. One-Click Scorecard saves hours of research and finally helps individual investors make sense of all the company information out on the Web, applying methods from Robert Hagstrom's The Warren Buffett Way and the NAIC - to understand a stock's prospects. As the equity markets have become more volatile, it's been increasingly important for investors to know how to identify and separate the good investments from the hype."

One-Click Scorecard Offers Users Expert Stock Evaluations
One-Click Scorecard gives consumers an instant one-page, plain English analysis of a stock using leading investment strategies. Not only does the Scorecard show investors how stocks "score" with strategies used by the experts, it also recommends a strategy that best fits a stock, provides a clear explanation of how the stock is being evaluated and suggests next steps for continued research. Finally, this powerful new feature informs investors which stocks are most attractive based on the selected expert methods. Currently available methods include:

  • National Association of Investors Corporation's (NAIC) Established Growth
  • Robert Hagstrom's "The Warren Buffett Way"
  • Geraldine Weiss' Blue-Chip Value
  • Coming soon - The Motley Fool's Foolish Eight

"This is the first time consumers can effectively make use of the tremendous amount of free investment information available on the Web," said Steven Gordon, product manager for Quicken.com. "Previously, consumers could only get the data on a company's P/E, revenues, or other fundamentals without having a way to know whether these numbers indicated positive or negative trends for the company's prospects. Seeing this information explained in the context of historical and comparative industry levels, as well as being told what the experts look for, helps all investors evaluate stocks with more confidence and less guesswork."

Improved Quicken Bill Manager Consolidates Bills Online; Eliminates Paper
Quicken.com's new Quicken Bill Manager allows consumers to receive and pay all their bills from one place on the site. For a small monthly fee, consumers can pay anyone in the U.S., including all billers who currently only send paper bills through the mail. The Quicken.com Bill Conversion service, powered by CyberBills, allows users to have all of their paper bills automatically sent to a service that scans the bills and securely presents an image of the bill online for consumers to view. E-mail alerts are sent out both when bills arrive as well as when bills are due thereby eliminating the worry of missing bills or getting hit with late fees. When making payments, individual bills can be scheduled to be paid automatically or paid on specific dates determined by the consumer. Furthermore, rather than being forced to pay all of their bills from one account, consumers can choose to make payments from any account they have with check writing privileges. With the average American spending 36 hours and $190 on postage to pay bills each year, Quicken Bill Manager offers consumers the opportunity to save time and money on this tedious task.

Infrastructure for Quicken Bill Manager is provided by CheckFree (NASDAQ: CKFR) and CyberBills. CheckFree provides the routing, tracking and payment engine that enables billers to present bills online and receive online payments. The company has contracts with many of the nation's top billers including leading telecommunications, utility, mortgage, home loan, credit card, insurance, cable and wireless companies to distribute their bills using CheckFree's electronic billing and payment service. In addition, CheckFree will process all payments for Quicken.com customers. As a result, consumers who use the service to pay their bills are protected by the CheckFree Guarantee, which limits a consumer's liability for unauthorized transactions to $50, much like major credit cards, and covers a consumer's responsibility for any late payment-related charges up to $50 should a payment arrive late.

Additional New Features
In addition to the Enhanced Portfolio, One-Click Scorecard and Quicken Bill Manager, Quicken.com has added and improved several other features that make the site easier to use.

  • Quicken 401k Advisor by TeamVest--Upgrades to the 401(k) Center, located in the retirement center, leverage real-time collaboration tools linking consumers to a live advisor directly through the computer. Not only can investors review mutual funds offered in their employer's 401(k) program without wading through a stack of prospectuses, they can now consult with an advisor who can simultaneously see the browser screen they're on, walk them through each page, and help evaluate their overall situation and goals. Consumers can still receive free personalized advice with specific fund and allocation recommendations in just minutes.
  • News--Building on up-to-the-minute news alerts from Dow Jones and CBS Marketwatch, stories from Red Herring.com are now available. An additional news provider will be added in December. Quicken.com has integrated time saving tools into its news stories, allowing readers to link directly to related analysts' ratings, growth trends, message boards, and related articles.
  • Portfolio Tracking with NO Registration Required-This feature allows consumers to create a personalized portfolio that can be set up with just a few clicks of the mouse and without having to enter any personal data.
