Intuit's ProSeries Allows Accounting Professionals To Gather Tax Data Via The Internet
New ProSeries Web Organizer Combines Best of Traditional Tax Organizers with Web Integration to Help Prepare Returns Faster
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - December 18, 2000 - To help ProSeries® tax and accounting customers improve their productivity and manage their workflow more efficiently this tax season, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) has introduced an integrated Web Organizer. ProSeries/Web Organizer streamlines the collection of client tax data and helps expedite the preparation of client returns quickly, and easily via the Internet. This powerful new tax organizer incorporates all of the best features of traditional paper-based and disk-based organizers and eliminates the hassles of re-keying data and the expense of paper and postage. In addition, the ProSeries/ Web Organizer allows the professional to convert and transfer client-entered data directly into ProSeries/1040 for Tax Year 2000.

"ProSeries/Web Organizer is a simple, interactive way for accounting professionals and their clients to assemble, and send client tax data," said Alan Harris, vice president, Intuit Professional Products Group. "Not only will ProSeries professionals be able to track the status of their clients' ProSeries/Web Organizers, they will also be able to collect the electronic information more quickly and prepare returns faster."

Designed by tax professionals for tax professionals, Intuit makes it easy to transfer data from a client's prior-year 1040 return into a current-year ProSeries/Web Organizer file. The file can be uploaded to a firewall protected Intuit Web server via the ProSeries program. An instructional e-mail message to the client is automatically generated, alerting them to the ProSeries/Web Organizer's availability. The message includes a member name and password key for private access.

Once on the site, the client is engaged in a personalized interactive Web-based "interview" that is tailored to their specific tax situation. This customized approach helps focus each client on the most relevant tax information and assists the preparer in expediting the tax return.

The Web Organizer features a variety of easy-to-use tools to help clients enter data and return the information to the preparer:

  • Table of Contents to help navigate throughout the Web Organizer
  • Notes to the Preparer
  • Log Out for more than one session
  • Contact My Preparer to launch an email
  • Print Organizer to preview and print
  • Submit My Organizer, which sends an email to the preparer that the file is ready to be retrieved from the server

The client needs only an Internet connection, a Web browser and an e-mail address to access and enter data into their ProSeries/Web Organizer.

For clients that do not have Internet access, Intuit also offers its ProSeries customers a paper Client Organizer for their more traditional clients. Based on the client's prior-year tax situation, the Client Organizer automatically prints the applicable questionnaire form. The information entered on the organizer sheets can be entered into the ProSeries/Client Organizer software and then transferred to ProSeries/1040. The ProSeries/Client Organizer software provides a custom cover letter and checklist of tax documents the client needs to return. The overall organizer package also serves as a gentle reminder to clients that it is time to assemble their tax information.

Both ProSeries Organizer products are available now on a pay-per-organizer basis. The ProSeries/Web Organizer is offered at $7 per Web Organizer and the Client Organizer is available for $5 per organizer. Terms, conditions, features, service options and pricing are subject to change. For more details on these products and their features, visit www.proseries.com/weborg.preview or call 1-800-934-1040.
