QuickBase®, a Web shareable database solution developed by Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU), earned the award for best "Internet Software" at PC Magazine's inaugural Innovation in Infrastructure (i3) awards program. Winners were announced on Tuesday, May 8, at a special luncheon presentation at the NetWorld+Interop conference held in Las Vegas.
In its press release announcing the results ("PC Magazine Names Winners in First 'Innovation In Infrastructure' Awards Program" - May 9, 2001), PC Magazine noted that QuickBase "… is a problem solver and an innovative way to deliver a great application."
"We are very excited about receiving such a prestigious award from a respected publication like PC Magazine," said Scott Cook, Intuit's founder and chairman of the executive committee. "QuickBase has vastly simplified how small businesses and workgroups manage and share information on the Web. And we've done it at breakthrough pricing."
Editors at PC Magazine bestowed awards to those products exemplifying the best and most advanced of today's network technologies. The awards program consisted of 28 finalists, which were further narrowed down to a single winner in 10 categories ranging from "Enterprise Hardware" to "SOHO Networking".
First introduced in December 2000, QuickBase gives small businesses and corporate workgroups an easy, flexible and affordable way to organize, manage and share business information over the Internet. QuickBase can be used to manage virtually any type of business application, from project management and inventory control to contact and sales management.
Only the database creator pays for the service, which presently offers pricing plans ranging from $14.95 per month for up to 15 databases to $49.95 per month for up to 50 databases. The service is offered at no charge to anyone invited to share a QuickBase database and those creating three or fewer QuickBases.
