Quicken.com™ Introduces Email and Wireless Delivery to Bring Key Investments Data to Multiple Platforms
Updated One-Click Scorecard and Additional News Content Makes It Easy for Investors to Evaluate Investment Ideas
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - May 17, 2001 - Amid recent downturns in the U.S. stock market, finding sound investment choices is harder than ever before. Intuit's (NASDAQ: INTU) leading e-finance site, Quicken.com (www.quicken.com), today launched several new features that offer consumers the best set of resources to evaluate investment ideas and make confident financial decisions - whether they are at home, at work, or on the road.

"With about two trillion dollars lost on NASDAQ alone in the past 12 months, people are finding it harder and harder to find good value in today's economy," said Roy Rosin, Quicken.com's director of marketing. "All the new features on Quicken.com are designed to help consumers make smarter, more confident investment choices. And, because the average consumer spends over seven hours analyzing a single investment, we are focused on saving people time by providing access to their key information when, where and how they want it, with features such as Portfolio Email updates and Quicken.com Mobile."

Quote Tracker, Email Portfolio Updates, and Quicken.com Mobile Bring Your Data To You
Whether people are on the road, in the office, or at home, Quicken.com helps save time by providing consumers access to their key information when, where and how they want it. The QuoteTracker, accessible from the Quicken.com investments portfolio page, allows investors to keep a small version of their portfolio open on their desktop, so they can use their browser for other things, or even close it altogether. This mini-version of the Quicken.com portfolio provides consumers with access to the same personalized portfolio they have set up on Quicken.com or in Quicken 2001. With instant access to news headlines, alerts and other analysis with just a simple wave of the mouse, consumers can quickly see key information to help them stay on top of their investments.

Quicken.com's new daily Portfolio Email service helps consumers to see their investments portfolio at the close of the market day, anyplace they receive email messages. With this service, investors can stay on top of their investments without even having to access Quicken.com. Quicken.com's Portfolio Email service updates investors with access to the same personalized portfolio they've set up on Quicken.com or in Quicken 2001, including both price changes and news and alerts about portfolio stocks and broader market news.

Quicken.com Mobile enables consumers to see their investments portfolio from mobile devices, giving investors a new choice in when, where and how to monitor their investment accounts. Just like the Portfolio Email updates, Quicken.com Mobile allows consumers to access the same personalized portfolio they've set up in Quicken 2001 or on Quicken.com, eliminating the headache of setting up or maintaining different portfolios in different places. Quicken.com Mobile, available for wireless Palm OS devices and Web-enabled mobile telephones, provides integrated news and alerts with clickable icons to help mobile users stay on top of their investments.

Additional News Sources
Quicken.com offers the best-of-breed news sources, message boards and original content, helping people gain the confidence they need by staying fully informed. Now consumers can access news from NYTimes.com, The Motley Fool, and TheStreet.com, in addition to all the other leading sources already available from Quicken.com, including Dow Jones, CBS MarketWatch, Red Herring, Briefing.com and more, all in one place.

One-Click Scorecard Expanded to Provide Analysis for Small-Cap Growth Stocks
Quicken.com has recently added to the number of strategies it offers on the hugely popular One-Click Scorecard. The Motley Fool Foolish 8 Strategy, or "The Foolish 8," is an eight-step approach that identifies the most promising small-cap growth stock opportunities. The Foolish 8 strategy complements the other strategies found in the One-Click Scorecard, which together provide users with expert analysis of small cap and large cap growth stocks, dividend-paying value stocks, and blend-oriented stocks.

Quicken.com today also released four months of index-stomping performance results from stocks identified by use of the site's One-Click Scorecard. Quicken.com's One-Click Scorecard provides consumers with free access to the insight and expertise of leading investment strategists. While investors should generally judge performance over the long-term, the results generated in the first four months are intriguing. From Dec. 1 to Mar. 30, the portfolio of 20 stocks selected by One-Click Scorecard using Geraldine Weiss' Blue-Chip Value Strategy rose a whopping 23.2 percent, compared to a 5.1 percent loss on the DJIA. The top stocks identified using the strategy outlined in Robert Hagstrom's best-selling book The Warren Buffett Way posted a 11.4 percent gain in this period, compared to a 11.8 percent loss with the S&P 500. The top 20 stocks chosen based on evaluation criteria endorsed by the National Association of Investors Corporation's (NAIC) Established Growth Strategy rose 3.9 percent during this period, compared to a 11.1 percent loss for the Wilshire 5000.

Additional Enhancements to Quicken.com

There are several other enhancements to the Quicken.com site, including:

  • Invest Now: Investors now have an integrated way to place trades or open accounts from Quicken.com by linking directly to their preferred broker directly from all Quicken.com quotes pages.
  • MyFinances: A number of enhancements make it even easier for consumers to set up and view their banking, credit card and brokerage accounts on the MyFinances page. In many cases, just an access ID and password are all a consumer needs for Quicken.com to "find" all the accounts that the consumer has with that particular financial institution. Also, an optional feature allows consumers to consolidate all the passwords for various financial institutions under a single, encrypted Quicken.com password.
  • Small Business Channel: Available at http://www.Quicken.com/small_business/, the Small Business Channel has been completely revamped to make key information easier to find. Content is arranged in logical categories such as "gain customers," "manage employees," and "run your office," making it easier than ever for small business owners to find our unique content. Additionally, original content has been added, including a free business plan mini evaluation from Palo Alto Software (with additional information at www.paloalto.com and www.bplans.com), and free legal editorial content from Nolo.com.
