Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) today announced the appointment of Dan Manack as the new vice president and general manager for its Professional Products Group. Manack joins Intuit with more than 20 years of experience managing software and services businesses.
Manack assumes his responsibilities immediately, reporting to Tom Allanson, senior vice president of Intuit's Tax division, who has served as interim general manager of the Professional Products Group since April 2000.
In his new role, Manack, 43, will have full profit and loss responsibility for Intuit's Professional Products Group and will be responsible for software development, marketing and sales, customer service, finance and administration. The Professional Products Group combines Lacerte® Software, Tax and Accounting Software Corporation (TAASC), and ProSeries® professional tax products.
Headquartered in Plano, Intuit's Professional Products Group has 450 employees with revenue of almost $200 million in fiscal year 2001. Manack will play a key role in developing the strategy and leading execution that drives profitable growth, improved customer experiences and a great place to work for employees.
"Intuit is committed to building a world-class organization that combines the strengths of our product development and support organizations with continued innovation and growth to better meet the needs of tax and accounting professionals," said Allanson. "Dan Manack has an incredible depth of experience and knowledge that will be instrumental in advancing these efforts and, in particular, bringing together people and processes to build a winning organization."
Prior to joining Intuit, Manack served as senior vice president for the E-Markets Group Operations at Peregrine Systems, a global provider of infrastructure management software and services. In that role, he led a $200 million business selling software and services to companies of all sizes.
He joined Peregrine Systems when the company acquired Harbinger Corporation, a $160 million B2B e-commerce software and services company, where he was executive vice president of operations. During his career at Harbinger, Manack held significant leadership positions supporting key areas, including new business development, operations and customer support. Manack has also worked at Unisys Corporation and spent 15 years with Texas Instruments.
"Intuit is known for its outstanding people, products, customer base and reputation. I am very excited to be here," Manack said. "The Professional Products Group has great opportunities to grow and contribute even more to the company's continued success. I'm especially looking forward to helping create a strategic and shared vision across the professional products teams, so that we consistently exceed the expectations of our customers, employees and shareholders."
