Intuit Launches New Master Builder Release To Benefit Home Builders
Added Features Help Save Time, Provide More Home Builder-Specific Data
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - February 08, 2002 - Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) today announced a new Intuit® Master BuilderTM Network Edition release that includes specific enhancements to help home builders better manage their businesses. The new Intuit Master Builder release provides increased integration between estimating, project management and purchase orders that will help home builders save time and ultimately help lower operating costs. While Intuit Master Builder previously has included functionality for other construction industry niches, such as plumbing and electrical, today's release is the first with enhancements for home builders.

Dan Smith, vice president, Intuit Construction Business Solutions, said the program enhancements are another step in Intuit's Right for My Business strategy. "We understand the unique business management and data needs of home builders and are excited to provide distinct business management solutions for this important industry group," Smith said.

Residential home builder Robert Godwin, president of Colony Homes located in Winter Park, Florida, said, "With this release, Intuit demonstrates its commitment to upgrading a good program for home builders into a great program for home builders."

Faster, More Accurate Estimates; Enhanced Integration
Home builder-specific data or elements now part of Intuit Master Builder Network Edition include:

  • A Chart of Accounts based on data provided by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
  • An extensive list of Cost Codes based on data provided by NAHB
  • A listing of 8,000 parts most commonly used by home builders
  • Material and labor items for work most commonly performed by home builders (carpentry, concrete and trim)
  • Several grids (portions of an estimate, such as for roofs)
  • More than 800 assemblies (comprised of the pre-determined parts and their quantities needed to build a particular element, such as a wall in a room of a house)
  • New home builder-specific reports for greater business and job profit analysis

Additional Intuit Master Builder enhancements for home builders include greater integration between Intuit Master Builder's Estimating and Scheduling components, saving users time and reducing data management costs, and increased compatibility between Intuit Master Builder's Scheduling and Purchase Order components, allowing users to streamline materials purchasing and identify resource conflicts earlier in the production process.

Pricing and Availability
The enhancements for home builders are incorporated seamlessly into the Intuit Master Builder Network Edition with no increase in price. In addition to providing the Intuit Master Builder user manual, the product now includes a "Guide for Home Builders" to help home builders best utilize the software.
