Preparing your taxes can be a challenge for anyone, especially when English is your second language. According to the 2001 U.S. Census, there are more than 32.8 million Hispanics in the United States and by 2050 one out of every four Americans will be Hispanic. To address the needs of the growing Hispanic market, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU), maker of TurboTax® products, the No. 1-selling tax preparation software, offers a solution in its new TurboTax en Español software product, part of its strategy to better address the unique needs of individual taxpayers.
TurboTax en Español, the first-ever Spanish language tax preparation software product, now widely available at retailers throughout the U.S., includes the familiar TurboTax EasyStep® interview translated into Spanish. TurboTax en Español, which is similar to the standard TurboTax Basic software also, includes help and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) in Spanish.
"The number of American taxpayers who speak Spanish as a first language continues to rise and those taxpayers deserve to share in the self-preparation and electronic filing revolution," said Tom Allanson, senior vice president of Intuit's Consumer Tax Division. "TurboTax en Español marks yet another innovation Intuit is able to bring to taxpayers who simply want to make preparing their taxes less taxing. We're excited about TurboTax en Español and look forward to serving the market for a long time to come."
TurboTax en Español is part of Intuit's "Right For Me" strategy which builds on three elements: products and services that make taxes less taxing, delivering TurboTax where and how customers and prospects want it, and providing cost-efficient service and support when and where it's needed.
TurboTax en Español is available at leading retailers including Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Staples, Office Depot, OfficeMax, CompUSA, Albertson's and Safeway.
In its 19th tax season, TurboTax was the No.1-selling tax preparation software program in 2001, with 71 percent share of units sold at retail according to NPD Intelect.
