Quicken.com's One-Click Scorecard Stock Picks Beat Major U.S. Stock Market Indices
Model Portfolios Outperform Indices By 48 Percentage Points Over Last Two Years
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - January 28, 2003 - Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU), a leading provider of business and financial management solutions for small businesses, consumers and accounting professionals, today announced the release of more than two years of index-stomping performance results from stocks identified using Quicken.com's (www.quicken.com) One-Click Scorecard. This tool, which identifies potential top performing stocks using strategies recommended by leading investing experts, enables consumers to make better-informed investing decisions and optimize their investment portfolios.

On December 1, 2000, Quicken.com created hypothetical model portfolios by selecting the top 20 strong-interest stocks over $5 per share identified by each One-Click Scorecard strategy. The result: All three model portfolios significantly beat the corresponding broad market index - the S&P 500, Wilshire 5000, and Dow Jones Industrial Average -- during the two-year span in which these portfolios were measured.*

From December 1, 2000 through close of market on January 27, 2003, the portfolio of 20 stocks selected by One-Click Scorecard using Robert Hagstrom's "The Warren Buffett Way" rose 23.7%, compared to the S&P 500 Index's loss of 35.6%, a difference of 59.3 percentage points! The top 20 strong interest stocks chosen based on evaluation criteria endorsed by the National Association of Investors Corporation's (NAIC) Established Growth Strategy rose 27.1% percent during this period, compared to a loss of 32.9% on the Wilshire 5000 Equity Index, a 60 percentage point difference! And the top 20 strong interest stocks identified using the strategy outlined in Geraldine Weiss' Blue-Chip Value Strategy were up 2.7%, outperforming the Dow Jones Industrial Average, down 23.3% since December 1, 2000, by 26 percentage points! Overall, the average difference between the above One-Click Scorecard portfolio's and the relevant market indices is an eye-opening 48.4 percentage points.

Results from December 1, 2000 through January 27, 2003:

One-Click Scorecard Market Indices Percentage Point Difference
Hagstrom: +23.7% S&P 500: -35.6% 59.3
NAIC: +27.1% Wilshire 5000: -32.9% 60.0
Weiss: +2.7% DJIA: -23.3% 26.0
AVERAGE DIFFERENCE: 48.4 points

One-Click Scorecard Helps Investors Make Better-Informed Decisions
"At a time when portfolios are dwindling, investor confidence is declining, and faith in analyst reports and broker recommendations are low, people are looking for some type of reality check," said Kevin Reeth, group product manager for Quicken. "One-Click Scorecard offers investors a way to gain an independent assessment of stocks they own or are considering purchasing. By providing investors an expert rating of these stocks as well as the ability to learn about the criteria behind these evaluations, investors gain insight that helps them make better-informed decisions and decide if these strategies meet their personal investing criteria."

One-Click Scorecard offers convenience and insight by instantly providing investors with an easy-to-understand chart and in-depth explanations as to how expert methodologies would apply to a stock being researched. Simply type a ticker symbol and One-Click Scorecard will crunch all the numbers using the latest data available, providing the consumer with an instant report showing how a stock fares using an expert's strategy, including an overall interest rating. Scorecard offers a clear explanation of how a stock is evaluated and includes next steps for continued research. Additionally, Scorecard provides consumers a list of top rated stocks for each of the experts' methods. By consolidating the information developed by some of the nation's leading investment experts, Scorecard helps individual investors save hours of research and make sense of company financial data with just a click of the mouse.

* The Motley Fool "Foolish 8" Strategy was added to One-Click Scorecard in January 2001 and therefore is not included in this two-year study. "The Foolish 8" is an eight-step approach that identifies the most promising small-cap growth stock opportunities. The Foolish 8 strategy complements the other strategies found in One-Click Scorecard, which together provide users with expert analysis of small cap and large cap growth stocks, dividend-paying value stocks, and blend-oriented stocks.
