Intuit And Amazon.Com Launch Online Boutique For Small Business Applications That Share Data With QuickBooks
Small Business Leader and Largest Online Retailer Team Up To Help Small Business Owners and Intuit Developer Network Members Grow Their Businesses
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - June 23, 2003 - Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) today announced an agreement with Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) to offer a QuickBooks Software Add-ons boutique on Amazon.com that sells business applications that share data with QuickBooks® 2003 products. The QuickBooks Software Add-ons boutique will provide an easy way for small and growing businesses to find and purchase industry-specific software products that integrate with QuickBooks. With these software products, designed by members of the Intuit Developer Network, small businesses will only need to enter data in one application, whether it's information about finances, sales or customers. With this advantage, small businesses can save time, increase productivity, and reduce errors.

Customers will be able to access the QuickBooks Software Add-ons boutique online at http://www.amazon.com/quickbooks, as well as from links throughout http://www.amazon.com.

"The strength of the QuickBooks product line combined with Amazon.com's platform and customer base gives Intuit Developer Network members an opportunity to market and sell to millions of small business customers who are shopping online," said Mark Bercow, vice president at Intuit, and leader of the Intuit Developer Network. "We are committed to continuing to find ways to help small businesses and Intuit Developer Network members grow their business and we have found a perfect solution through this relationship."

"Providing small-business owners with a single destination to access a broad range of industry-specific, customized accounting solutions is one more way that Amazon.com is delivering unparalleled selection and convenience to its customers," said Bruce Saffery, director of Amazon.com's Software store. "Whether it is non-profit organizations looking to manage their funding, contractors managing their job estimates, or manufacturers looking to gain greater insight into their finances, these customers will now be able to find industry-specific software products that integrate with QuickBooks at Amazon.com."

In a recent survey of small businesses, Intuit found that more than 60 percent of QuickBooks customers prefer to work with software applications that were specific to their industry. Integrated industry-specific applications give small businesses a wealth of choices for extending QuickBooks functionalities in ways that are truly 'right for their business.' The offering on Amazon.com is further evidence of Intuit's commitment to serve the needs of its growing developer community and small businesses in every industry.

Third-party software developers wanting to offer solutions on the QuickBooks Software Add-ons boutique can do so through participation in the Intuit Developer Network (IDN). IDN members at the Premier level can add their solution to the Amazon.com boutique for free, providing the solution is available on CD-ROM.

"We are very excited that as an Intuit Developer Network member, we can leverage both the interest in QuickBooks software and the traffic on Amazon.com to sell our products that integrate with QuickBooks," said Scott Baird, director of marketing with Software Technology, Inc., a provider of software for law and accounting firms. "This is an easy way to promote the integration between our TABS III billing software and QuickBooks through a strong retail channel."

Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon.com will process the transaction for the customer while the respective IDN member will manage inventory and order fulfillment, and customer service and support with the software product.
