Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) announced today that Tom Weigman has been hired as senior vice president and chief marketing officer, and Nick Spaeth has been hired as senior vice president and general counsel. Both will report directly to Intuit president and chief executive officer Steve Bennett.
"Tom and Nick bring unique combinations of business acumen and functional expertise to Intuit," said Bennett. "Their diversity of experience strengthens the depth of our leadership team and better positions Intuit for success as a larger company."
A strategic marketer and proven business leader, Weigman brings the talent and experience to make an already strong marketing organization even better. During his more than 25 years in marketing and general management for consumer and technology companies, including early training in brand management at Procter & Gamble, Weigman has led a $2.5 billion-revenue business and launched major new product initiatives. He most recently served as chief executive officer of Upoc, Inc., a wireless services start-up, and was formerly with Sprint Corp. There he held several senior management roles, including president of the consumer long distance division, president of multimedia and strategic services, chief marketing officer, and senior vice president, consumer strategy and communications. Prior to Sprint, he was senior partner for the Marketing Corporation of America, consulting with major consumer brands such as Quaker Oats Co., Unilever, Kraft and Duracell. He also held marketing positions at companies such as Mars, Inc. and the Beecham Group.
As senior vice president and general counsel, Spaeth will lead Intuit's combined legal and corporate affairs group. Spaeth brings to Intuit more than 20 years of legal and government experience and expertise in reading the competitive landscape, and identifying strategic risks and opportunities. Most recently, Spaeth was senior vice president and general counsel for General Electric's Employers Reinsurance Corporation. Prior to that Spaeth's career experience included two elected terms as North Dakota's attorney general as well as partner positions with a major Silicon Valley law firm and a law firm in the Midwest. With his move to Intuit, Spaeth returns to Silicon Valley where he graduated from Stanford Law School.
