TurboTax Is Overwhelming Favorite In Major Head-To-Head Software Reviews
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - February 24, 2004 - TurboTax has captured the endorsement of many of the nation's leading software reviewers, including winning recommendations from PC Magazine, Barron's, CNET.com and The Washington Post. Reviewers lauded TurboTax for ease of use, thoroughness and its simple, well-organized interview.

Here's what software critics are saying about TurboTax for 2003:

  • In January, PC Magazine awarded TurboTax Premier for 2003 Editors' Choice with a 5 out of 5 star rating. The review called TurboTax "our favorite tax preparation program," praising its simple, streamlined interview and the "exemplary" help topics and tools. "Whether you've been using TurboTax in the past or are a newcomer, we can recommend the program without reservation," the magazine concluded.
  • Barron's: "Overall, TurboTax was significantly more satisfactory than the other two programs, and we recommend it for the do-it-yourselfers this year."
  • CNET.com also awarded TurboTax Deluxe software an Editors' Choice, saying: "Again, it's TurboTax's depth--the ability to automatically prepare tax forms its competitors brush off--that makes it our Editors' Choice."
In other software reviews published to date, PC World lauded TurboTax for its ability to handle complex tax returns and The Wall Street Journal noted TurboTax has "powerful advantages that will appeal to many upper-income taxpayers, especially investors." The New York Times wrote that TurboTax has a well-organized interview and "appears to pose questions that cover almost any conceivable situation."

The Sun Sentinel's nationally syndicated personal finance columnist gave the nod to TurboTax and the Detroit Free Press wrote, "If you're a TaxCut user, this might be the year it's worth the hassle to make the switch. Anyone starting fresh should buy TurboTax; it's a superior product in almost every way."
