Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) today named Brad Smith general manager of its QuickBooks business unit and Brad Henske general manager of its consumer tax business unit.
Smith, 41, was previously general manager of Intuit's consumer tax business. Under his leadership, TurboTax posted strong unit growth, expanded share and grew the consumer tax category. Smith joined Intuit in February 2003.
"We wanted to put a strong and proven business leader in charge of QuickBooks, which remains a giant opportunity for Intuit," said Steve Bennett, Intuit president and chief executive officer. "We've been searching externally for a while and determined that Brad Smith is the best person - inside or outside Intuit - for the QuickBooks leadership role. He's proven his ability to lead a team to win decisively in an intensely competitive environment."
Henske, 43, was previously Intuit's chief financial officer. In that role, he was responsible for all financial activities of the company as well as its supply chain, order-to-cash, procurement, real estate, legal and government relations activities. Henske joined Intuit in January 2003.
"Brad Henske is a proven leader with an outstanding track record," said Bennett. "In addition to his strong financial background, he has extensive business, marketing and operations experience from his time at Bain & Company and the Robert M. Bass Investor Group. He's been much more than a finance leader since he joined Intuit. We believe he is the right person to run this critically important business and continue the positive momentum that the consumer tax team achieved this past season."
Intuit has begun an external search for a new chief financial officer. Henske will serve as acting CFO until his replacement is on board.
