QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll Surpasses 100,000 Customer Mark in Less Than Seven Months
Small Businesses and Accountants Embrace Cost Effective Payroll Solutions that Allow Them to Retain Control and Save Time
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - May 18, 2005 - Making it one of the most successful launches in Intuit (Nasdaq: INTU) history, the QuickBooks® Enhanced Payroll service has been adopted by more than 100,000 customers in just seven months since its introduction to the market in November 2004. Small business owners are choosing QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll to help them save time, ensure accuracy and retain control over the entire payroll process.

Solving these important needs is what has helped catapult QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll to the 100,000 customer mark so quickly. Managing payroll can be time-consuming and confusing for small businesses, especially since small business owners wear many hats. By automatically filling out and updating many state and federal forms, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll takes the confusion out of the payroll process while saving small business owners precious time. With Enhanced Payroll, small businesses simply print, sign and mail state payroll tax forms.

"I used to spend the same amount of time manually processing payroll for eight to 10 employees as I do now for 60 employees with QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll Plus," said Dave Kummer, owner of three Dairy Queen franchises in Grinnell, Iowa.

Also driving customer adoption is the ability to process payroll straight from QuickBooks, helping ensure that data integration is accurate. Payroll accuracy is vital - both to the employees being paid and to the businesses writing the check. Nearly 40 percent of all small businesses incur a payroll-related penalty with an average fine of $845, according to an Intuit survey. Having a solution like QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll automates the payroll process and increases accuracy to help small businesses avoid costly errors. "I no longer worry whether my payroll is accurate or that I'm calculating Connecticut or federal unemployment withholdings correctly since Enhanced Payroll Plus does it for me," said Donna Szewczak, business manager, Szewczak Associates, an engineering consulting firm in Avon, Conn. "After using Enhanced Payroll Plus, I wonder why anyone would leave such an important process as payroll to chance."
