| Ready, Set, Import: Intuit Breakthrough Instantly Transfers Data Directly Into Lacerte and ProSeries |
 |
| New Solution Helps Accountants Save Time, Eliminate Errors; Company Unveils Next Generation Tax Law and Lacerte Update Training |
 |
|
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -
Nov.
8,
2006 -
Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) today introduced a breakthrough tax preparation solution that will enable accountants to scan and import client data from common tax documents and import it directly into Lacerte® and ProSeries® software. The solution, Source Doc Auto-Entry, can help reduce both the time spent manually entering tax data and the possibility of errors.
The easy-to-use solution, which works with most twain-compliant scanners, will allow tax preparers to digitally scan several client documents simultaneously, including forms such as W-2s, 1099-INTs and 1099-DIVs. Accountants can then quickly review the documents for accuracy and, with a mouse click, import that data directly into Lacerte or ProSeries tax preparation software where it is instantly mapped to the appropriate fields. Users can also reduce paper storage by using Source Doc Auto-Entry along with Intuit's Lacerte and ProSeries Document Management Solutions.
"When people realize they can scan source document data directly into the tax return - their jaws are going to drop." said Steve Lohman, CPA and long-time Lacerte user in Lewiston, Idaho. "This is going to help people save hundreds of hours." Source Doc Auto-Entry uses the latest OmniPage® SDK optical character recognition technology developed by Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAN), a leading provider of speech and imaging solutions.
"We think Source Doc Auto-Entry could be the single-biggest boost to productivity for tax preparers in a very long time," said Sasan Goodarzi, vice president of Intuit's professional tax division. "This is going to help our customers complete more returns, spend more time on value added tasks, or just go home earlier during tax season."

| New Program Unites Tax Law and Product Update Training |
 |
|
Intuit also announced new training for Lacerte users that combines updates to tax laws as well as the software. The new training allows users to stay current on new federal tax laws and teaches them how the changes are handled within the product.
While many companies provide separate tax law or product training, Intuit has developed a unique way to combine the two in an online, self-paced program that walks users through the new areas of the Lacerte program and provides an immediate understanding on how to apply their new tax law knowledge. This can help save time, money and increase proficiency in serving clients.
In addition to in-depth overviews of tax law changes, Intuit's tax and product experts provide valuable step-by-step demonstrations on how those changes are handled within the Lacerte tax software. The course will be continuously updated as changes in tax laws or the Lacerte program occur throughout the season. Users will be notified through e-mail when a change in the course has taken place. Continuing Professional Education credit is available to each user who completes the course.
"For Lacerte customers, this is like having your cake and eating it too," Goodarzi said. "It not only cuts the amount of training necessary to get ready for tax season, but it also helps accountants become even more proficient and efficient using Lacerte."
