If you are having trouble connecting to register Quicken online, complete the following steps.

1. Exit Quicken.
2. Establish a connection to the Internet through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). 

Note: If you have trouble connecting at this point, contact your ISP for further assistance.

3. Once you have established an Internet connection, open Quicken.
4. From the Edit menu, select Internet Connection Setup (if you are using Quicken 99, point to Internet Connection on the Online menu, and then select Setup).
5. At the Are you connected to the Internet screen, select I have a direct Internet connection, and then click Next.
6. At the Browser preference window, click Next.
7. Select the browser you would like to use, and then click Next.
8. At the Tell us about your Proxy Server screen, leave these fields blank if you use a traditional ISP to go online. However, if you connect to the Internet using a cable modem or through a LAN, you may have to enter settings here. If you are unsure of these settings, contact the provider of your Internet access or your network administrator.
9. Click Next twice, and then click Finish to complete this wizard.
10. Select Register Quicken from the Help menu and attempt to complete the online registration process.

It is necessary for you to establish your Internet connection before accessing Quicken's online features, if you have Quicken configured to access the Internet through a direct connection.
