| Question: |
Why isn't my Web Connect data entered in Quicken? |
| |
Possible Cause: |
This situation may occur for several reasons:
- You downloaded the wrong file from your financial institution;
- The file association may have changed or been corrupted; or,
- The Temporary Internet Files folder is full.
|

| Answer: |
To resolve this issue:
- Verify that you downloaded a Quicken Financial Exchange (QFX) file and not a Quicken Interchange Format (QIF) file:
- Search for the downloaded file with a .QFX file extension. If you find the file, note its location for future use. If it does not end in .QFX, download the QFX file again from your financial institution’s Web site.
- When you downloaded the .QFX file, if you were prompted to save the file to a disk, Quicken will not automatically process the data. (If you were not prompted to save the file, skip to step 2.) To process the QFX file:
- From the Quicken File menu, choose Import, and then choose Web Connect File.
- Find the .QFX file (see step 1a for its location), select it, and then click Open.
- If the previous step did not resolve the issue, the QFX file association may have been changed or corrupted. To determine if the file may be corrupted, follow the steps below for your version of Microsoft® Windows®.
- To verify this in Microsoft® Windows® 95 and 98:
- In My Computer (double-click the My Computer icon on the Desktop), click View, and then choose Folder Options.
- Click the File Types tab, select the QFX extension (Quicken QFX data) in the list, and then click Edit. Make sure the following information is entered:
- Data Extension for Content Type: QFX
- Content Type (MIME): application/vnd.intu.qfx
- Select Open in the Actions window, and then click Edit. The Application used to perform action field should read C:\Quickenw\QW.EXE -X "%1." The folder in the path (\Quickenw\) may vary depending on where Quicken was installed.
- In Microsoft® Windows® 2000, and Microsoft® Windows Me and XP:
- In My Computer (double-click the My Computer icon on the Desktop), choose Tools, Folder Options, and then File Types.
- Click the File Types tab, select the QFX extension in the list, and then click Advanced.
- Select Open in the Actions window, and then click Edit. The Application used to perform action field should read C:\Quickenw\QW.EXE -X "%1." The folder in the path (\Quickenw\) may vary depending on where Quicken was installed.
- If the issue still is not resolved, empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder. A full Temporary Internet Files folder may prevent the system from properly handling or saving the QFX file, or Quicken may not be able to access it. (For more information on how to do this, please see Microsoft® Windows® Help.)
