To search for a file in:
Microsoft® Windows® 95
Microsoft® Windows® 98
Microsoft® Windows NT®
- Click the Windows Start button, choose Find, and then choose Files or Folders.
- Click the Name & Location tab.
- In the Named field, enter the name of the file for which you are searching.
- If you do not remember the entire filename, try entering part of the filename.
- If you only know the filename extension, substitute an asterisk for the filename and include the extension. For example, type *.qdf to search for Quicken data files or *.doc to search for Microsoft® Word documents.
- In the Look in drop-down list, select the drive name, drive letter, and folder on which to search.
- Make sure the Include subfolders checkbox is selected, and then click Find Now.
Your search results will appear in a separate window below the search criteria tabs. The directory path to the located file(s) will appear in the In Folder column. Please be aware that the same filename might appear in multiple directories (folders).
Note: The Quicken data file set consists of multiple files with the same name, but with different extensions. Most Quicken data files will contain [qdata].qdf, [qdata].qsd, [qdata].qel, or [qdata].qph files. If you need to copy a Quicken file to a new location, be sure to copy each of these files if they exist.
