Title Prompted to update Quicken Bill Pay account each time Quicken is started
KB ID#: 577958
Categories: Customer Service, File Management/Conversion, Online Banking/Bill Payment
Question: Why am I prompted to update my Quicken Bill Pay account each time I start Quicken?

Possible
Cause:

This issue is related to upgrades to the Quicken Bill Pay service, for current Quicken Bill Pay subscribers. If you are not a current Quicken Bill Pay subscriber, it may also be caused because at least one Quicken account is activated for Quicken Bill Pay.

Answer:

Intuit is in the process of upgrading your Quicken Bill Pay service. This upgrade will provide you with improvements in key areas, such as shorter lead times, faster payments, and free 24/7 customer support.

Between August and October 2004, current Quicken Bill Pay subscribers will receive (or may already have received) a letter with information about how to proceed with the upgrade. In addition to the information in the letter, details are available on this Web site to assist you with specific questions you may have about your experiences with the upgrade. An automated wizard will help you complete the upgrade, which will only take a few minutes. Upon completing the upgrade, you will have access to the upgraded Quicken Bill Pay service for all your accustomed transactions, accounts, and payees.

If you are not a current Quicken Bill Pay subscriber, you will need to disable all visible and hidden Quicken accounts that have been activated for Quicken Bill Pay.

For non-Quicken Bill Pay subscribers, to disable accounts that have been activated for Quicken Bill Pay:

  1. From the Quicken Tools menu, choose Account List.
  2. From the Options drop-down list, select View hidden accounts.
  3. In the Account list, select the account to deactivate, and then click the Edit menu to open the Account Details window.
  4. Click the Online Services tab and then click Deactivate.
  5. Click Yes to the messages, "Would you like to disable this service?" and "You are about to delete online setup information for a Quicken online account."
  6. Click OK twice to save the changes and close the window.
  7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each Quicken Bill Pay-enabled account.
  8. Exit and restart Quicken.
