Cross-Platform Conversion
Quicken data files are not meant to be transferred between
Quicken for Microsoft Windows and Quicken for Mac. Currently,
there is not an available converter tool. There is a manual
process available to accommodate the infrequent switch from
one operating system to another; Intuit does not recommend
performing this process on a regular basis. It is important
to note that not all data will convert seamlessly. There is
potential for duplication or loss of data due to major differences
inherent to the operating system or version you are switching
to.
We recommend creating a new data file in the new version of
Quicken. Creating a new data file is the best method for ensuring
that the information is correct and reliable.
Follow the detailed instructions
at our website.
The following information will not convert
- you will need to enter this data manually:
- Scheduled transactions
- Memorized/QuickFill Transactions
- Loan Setups
- Online Account Setups
- Online Payee Lists
- Memorized Reports or Graphs
- Investment Account Win - Mac
- Miscellaneous type transactions
- Security Price Histories
- Security Price Histories
- Account types that do not exist in Quicken for Mac follow:
- 401(k)
- ESPP – Employee Stock Purchase Plan Account
- ESOP – Employee Stock Option Account
- Accounts Receivable – Home and Business
- Accounts Payable – Home and Business
- Home & Business specific features
- Home & Business Version - Reimbursable Expense transactions
(E)
- Tax status of Investment accounts
- Planning information
- From Mac to Win - Splits that contain more than 30 line
items
There may be other transactions missing after conversion
which may cause incorrect account balances.
If you are changing platforms and need assistance, we offer
two options:
Send your file to us and a Quicken Data Services Specialist
will convert it for you.
- Data services can convert the file and create balance
adjustments. As stated above, some transactions may be lost
during the conversion. Data Services will not re-create
the missing transactions or information that did not convert.
Balance adjustments are made to the accounts to ensure the
ending balance matches in both files and the file is returned
in the new format.
- Data services can convert the file, and then send the
file with no adjustments. Missing transactions can be entered
or a balance adjustment can be made. Entering the missing
transactions will ensure the balances are correct and the
detailed information is present. This is a favorable alternative
but can be time consuming for the user depending on how
much information is missing.
