- In the Creating new file: Are you Sure? window, select New
Quicken Account, and then click OK.
- Follow the instructions in the Account Setup wizard to finish
creating the account.
- If you are importing the file from a floppy disk, insert the disk
into your floppy drive.
- Open the QIF Import window. To do this:
- In Quicken 99, 2000 and 2001: On the File menu,
point to Import, and then select QIF File.
- In Quicken 98: On the File menu, point to
File Operations, and then select Import.
- In the QIF File to Import field, enter the path and name of the
QIF file you would like to import data from (ex. C:\quickenw\qif)
or click the Browse or Find File button to locate
it. Note: If you are still having trouble finding your QIF
file, use the Windows Find feature and search for *.QIF.
- In the Quicken Account to Import to field, select the account you
would like to import data into.
- In the Include In Import field, choose from the following items
what you would like to include in your import:
- Transactions: Includes all data in your account registers.
- Account List: Includes just your listing of accounts (without
transactions).
- Category List: Includes all of your categories, plus classes.
- Memorized Transactions: Includes all memorized transactions.
- Special Handling for Transfers: This prevents duplicate
transactions from occurring when importing from the accounts involved
with a single transfer transaction.
- Security Lists: Includes all your securities, security
prices (including price histories), security types and investment
goals (Quicken 99, 2000 and 2001 only).
- Business Lists: (For Quicken Home & Business users
only) Includes invoice items and all business oriented templates.
Note: If you are importing a QuickPayroll file into Quicken,
select the Transactions, Account List and Category List options to
include in your import. Do not select the Memorized Transactions and
Special Handling for Transfers options.
- Click OK to import your data.
