What's new in Release 3(R3) of Quicken 2001?

Free upgrades are always available automatically online, using your Quicken program and an active Internet connection. The most current release of Quicken 2001 is Release 3 (R3). R3 was made available in January of 2001.

R3 release information

Important enhancements and improvements offered in R3 include all enhancements from previous releases plus:

Online Banking

  • You can now import Web Connect statements to an investment account when the linked checking/cash account is enabled for Quicken BillPay.
  • Quicken's ability to receive critical messages for online banking customers from their financial institutions has been improved.

Quicken BillPay

  • For accounts using Quicken BillPay, the Update/Send button in the Online Center now works for financial institutions that use a different customer ID.

Import from Quicken TurboTax

  • The ability to import data from Quicken TurboTax 2000 into Quicken 2001 Release 3 has been improved.

Online Backup

  • The dial-up networking window no longer appears when Online Backup is selected upon exiting Quicken.

 

R2 release information

Important enhancements and improvements offered in R2 include:

Online Banking

  • Made it easier to change the PIN you receive from your financial institution.

Online Bill Payment

  • Improved the way repeating online payments are reflected in the register for certain scenarios.
  • No longer receive error message when canceling a payment made via CheckFree Classic.
  • Eliminated duplication of payments for certain scenarios where a processed payment had been deleted.

Compare to Register

  • Compare to Register performance has been improved for scenarios involving multiple compare to register statements and for scenarios involving a large number of unaccepted transactions.

Smart Reconcile

  • Smart Reconcile performance has been improved after the "Start New Year" process is complete and for certain out-of-balance conditions.

Missed Bill Reminder

  • Missed Bill Reminder is displayed in your Quicken register only when you have set up scheduled transactions.
  • Recurring transactions with a blank payee no longer appear in the Schedule These? section.
  • Manual entries made for scheduled online payments are now recognized as instances of scheduled online payments.

Reminders Export

  • The default setting for newly created files is to have Reminders Export set to off. The default setting for converted files is to retain the setting in your previous Quicken version.

Portfolio View

  • Improved performance of embedded browser features after viewing the Portfolio View.
  • Improved display of downloaded sector information.
  • Improved display of values involving closed lots.

Security Detail View

  • Improved display of expanded quote information for securities in exported accounts.

401(k) Tracking

  • Improved ability to complete a wizard-based 401(k) update when a prior period contained an XIn transaction. For example, your employer's paycheck dates may have differed from the deposit dates recorded by your 401(k) plan administrator. Quicken now allows for the possible discrepancy and allows you to record a cash balance in your 401(k).
  • Now displays the correct account value in reports for 401(k) accounts that contained negative reinvested interest transactions in Quicken 2000. This may have happened if you don't track individual share values, and a 401(k) mutual fund in your previous Quicken version had lost market value.
  • Fixed conversion of securities that were created during a 401(k) wizard-based update in Quicken 2000. You will now be prompted to add ticker symbols when converting your 401(k) account so that you can download security prices for these holdings.

Stock Split Data in Historical Price Download

  • Quicken 2001 now downloads stock split data when you request a download of historical securities prices. For more information on downloading stock splits, click the Help menu, select  Index, and then enter stock split.

Planning

  • In the Retirement Planner, the Living Expenses Category Detail has been improved.
  • In the Home Purchase Planner, the performance of the affordability calculator when using Internet Explorer 5.5 has been improved.

Tax Planner

  • Tax Planner Details transaction lists have been improved.
  • Improved the handling of categories whose tax line item assignments have been removed.
  • Improved Tax Planner performance and annualization for dates in 2001 and 2002.

Reports

  • Improved accuracy of Net Worth and Account Balance reports when Include Unrealized Gains option is off.
  • Improved Budget report when multicurrency support is enabled.
  • Improved reporting of classes in Register Report by Class.

Online Backup

  • Provided access to Online Backup from backup reminder message that appears when closing Quicken.

Quicken 2001 Privacy Statement

  • Added access to Quicken 2001 Privacy Statement from the Help menu. (It is also accessible during product registration).
