What's new in Quicken version 5.0f?This
update provides several improvements to Quicken 5, including:
- Providing a way to work around problems reported by users when they use Quicken with
Microsoft's IntelliPoint or IntelliType running.
- Transactions are now updated correctly when merging subcategories. (In releases before
5.0d, users sometimes had a problem when they deleted a subcategory and then merged the
subcategory with its parent.) (Fixed in 5.0d)
- "Out of dict ref" error no longer occurs when you add a new transaction.
(Previous releases could cause this error in rare instances.)
- You can now delete transactions that are missing their secondary record. (Some users of
previous releases found they could not delete certain transactions.)
- File Validate now locates records correctly in instances where transactions displayed
"NA" after a user performed a File Validate on a clean file.
- File Validate now corrects more kinds of damaged data, including damage that causes
confusion between transactions (duplicate transaction IDs) in an online account.
- After the user performs a File Copy, the program no longer displays "NA"
inappropriately in transactions. (In previous releases, this could happen in some cases.)
- Quicken now displays an error message if File Restore or File Copy fail.
- File Validate no longer erases the list of "Last 4 Reports."
- Validate now removes price history records from the .QMD.
- The File Copy process has been strengthened in two ways: It now continues even though
damaged .QSD records exist. (Such records are unlikely to cause any problems, so they
shouldn't stop the copy process.) It now continues when it encounters split or lot
records. (In earlier releases, the process would sometimes stop when it encountered split
or lot records.)
- If a Transaction Report is created with multiple accounts selected, the opening balance
now sums all of the opening balances of all included accounts.
- Filtering an Investment Transaction Report by memo no longer causes a GPF.
- The named date of a Net Worth Report is now retained when the report is memorized.
- The Reconcile Report menu item is now available after an account has been reconciled.
- Copy to Clipboard no longer drops the first two lines of the report.
- Reports now pick up the opening balances of accounts that have the Opening Balance as
the sole transaction.
- Printing a voucher check now correctly prints a single category in the voucher section.
- When doing a data import with 15 windows open in Quicken, Quicken no longer causes a
GPF.
- CheckFree email fix now allows you to transmit multiple email lines.
- Email no longer allows lines to wrap and limits lines to 60 characters so they will not
be truncated during transmission.
- Names without middle initials in the account setup are now transmitted correctly.
- Changes to account setup are always sent. (Prior releases would sometimes fail to send.)
- CheckFree menu items are enabled for FIXED payments that are entered in the register.
- When converting an amortized memorized transaction from a Quicken for DOS data file,
Quicken now allows a loan account to be set up during the convert process.
- Quicken now allows you to select the File Preview tab on the properties sheet of a
password-protected file.
- Quicken now bypasses writing Reminder information to the qwshellx.ini file during
startup. This was done to avoid some intermittent GPFs that could be caused by reading in
corrupted Reminder information.
- The latest TAX.SCD is included.
- Various problems with reconciling an online account have been fixed.
- A negative account balance received from online banking will now be correctly
interpreted as negative rather than positive.
- When email is received with banking data, the Online Banking window is now properly
updated to show the banking data that was received.
- Notification that a charge card payment is due is now displayed only when there really
is a payment due.
- When an invalid PIN or failure to connect causes an online bill payment session to fail,
Quicken no longer prevents you from modifying payments that were included in that failed
session (since they were not in fact sent).
- Online Banking now handles error conditions that occur during transmission.
- For Windows 95, 98, NT, and OS/2, Quicken no longer takes up all of the CPU cycles when
Quicken is idle
- The register drop-down list now opens when the Quicken Home Inventory window is resized.
- Launching Investor Insight after creating a general note no longer causes a GPF.
- You can now import prices from Investor Insight when multiple securities have the same
symbol.
- The Mutual Fund Finder Help file has been updated.
- For Mutual Fund Finder, the Net Assets value in the Fund Detail dialog box now shows the
correct amount for the few funds whose net assets are over 4.2 billion.
- For Mutual Fund Finder, We've added five extended asset classes (5.0f) :
Multi-Asset-Global; Multi-sector Bond; Diversified EMG Markets-Stock; Specialty-Real
Estate; Specialty-Communication.
- One extended asset class (Income) has been removed in Mutual Fund Finder.
