  • Improvements to Investments - We've improved the performance for downloading quotes and fixed several minor problems.
  • Transaction issues related to online banking have been improved.
  • File validation features have been improved.
  • We've fixed a number of problems customers have reported.

Note: All online investment and banking sessions must be completed before updating to R3.

Specific changes and enhancements to Quicken 98 have occurred in these areas:

Taxes

  • The capital gains report has been updated to accurately reflect changes in the 1997 Taxpayer Relief Act.
  • Tax Planner now accounts for 1997 tax law changes requiring Schedule D reporting of all capital gains distributions.

Internet

Customers who received the "password cache is damaged" message no longer need to start their ISP before Quicken. This problem has been solved.

Investments

  • We've improved online quote download performance.
  • 401(k) update now properly handles adjustments in shares.
  • The "hide security" feature works properly within Portfolio View.

Online Banking and Investment Tracking (U.S. only)

  • We've resolved problems with the Compare to Register function in online investment tracking.
  • We've fixed some minor problems posting downloaded investments transactions to the register.
  • For Intuit Online Payment customers, the e-mail tab now displays after you've downloaded information from a financial institution.
  • Quicken Credit Card customers can now download transactions before the end of the month.
  • NT customers: We've resolved system issues related to posting online transfers of funds.
  • The memo field of the Repeating Online Scheduled Transaction can now be edited successfully.
  • CheckFree customers can now create multiple Normal or Fixed payees with a unique name consisting of three characters.
  • Display and processing of online transactions dated 2000 and beyond has been improved.
  • For online credit card transactions, Quicken 98 now downloads posting dates and marks them as online transactions. The Download Transaction option now contains a checkmark and posting date. This will prevent these payments and reverse charge transactions from being candidates for matching since they have already been downloaded, entered to the register and reconciled.
  • Large numbers of transactions can now be viewed in the Compare to Register window when using the 16-bit version of the program.
  • Personal Identification Number (PIN) now permits special characters such as * or $. Also, if the customer financial institution permits a PIN over eight characters, Quicken 98 will accommodate that.
  • Qualifiers for online payees with the same name are now recognized.
  • During Compare to Register, memo information for downloaded transactions will no longer overwrite memo information for the match on the memorized transaction list.

General

  • You can now export addresses for memorized transactions.
  • Multiple scheduled transactions for the same payee on the same day are now properly posted.
  • After editing a Loan payment setup with split items in the Other Amounts in Payment" screen, the Transfer Account will no longer disappear.
  • Several issues relating to file validation have been improved. File validation now checks for and repairs the following:
    • Duplicate categories
    • Account first and last transaction dates
    • Investment transaction prices, shares and amounts
    • Missing securities. If a security is missing, Quicken now adds a placeholder security, for example, SEC_1.

Home & Business

You can now edit long descriptions from within the invoice.

Canada

  • The Paycheck Wizard now records tax splits correctly.
  • You can now set up online accounts properly.
