Using Help in the Quicken program

The Quicken program has evolved to become an extremely sophisticated personal finance management resource. Built into the program are a variety of tools to answer questions about the program's capabilities and how to use those capabilities most effectively. Quicken Help uses both the text-based and multimedia capabilities of the computer.

The Help files provided with the Quicken program are thoroughly comprehensive. This system answers virtually every question about how to use the Quicken program. To access Quicken Help, do this:

  1. Start the Quicken program.
  2. Choose Index on the Help menu. This opens a Help Topics window that has three tabs:

    • Contents. This is a general outline of what is contained in the Quicken Help files. Double-click on any item here to see what is contained in that area. Continue to double-click on items to find a specific Help file.
    • Index. This is a substantial list of keywords contained in the Help files. Simply type in a word related to a question or a Quicken capability, and the program will show all Help files related to that word.
    • Find. This provides a search capability. Enter a word related to a Quicken capability, and this searches for that word in all Quicken Help files.

  3. Click the Index tab.
  4. Type "help, using" (without parentheses) in the field labeled "1 Type the first few letters of the word you're looking for."
  5. Click the Display button. This open a Topics Found window.
  6. In the Topics Found window, select (highlight) Using Quicken Help once you get to it, and click the Display button. This opens a Quicken Help file window with an overview of specifically how to use the Quicken Help file system.
