Quicken 2001 for Windows -- Release 3 (R3) Update 
Special Instructions for Users of Windows NT and 2000

Depending on your modem speed, the capabilities of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and overall Internet traffic, downloading the Quicken 2001 update may take 30 minutes or longer. Click here for information on downloading the manual update or see the instructions below for more information.

Note: You must complete all online investment and banking sessions before updating to a new Quicken program release. 

It is necessary to have the Quicken 2001 program installed on your computer to use the following procedure.

Note:  If you have already received an error message while downloading the update, close the error and restart your computer before proceeding with the steps below. To do this, click the Start button, and select Shut Down. Select Restart and then click OK.  

To Update Quicken to the latest release using Windows NT or 2000:
  1. If you regularly go online for Online Quotes, start Quicken and go online to retrieve quotes. After your information is downloaded, a message will appear indicating that an update is available.
  2. If you do not regularly go online, choose One Step Update from the Finance menu. This will open the Quicken 2001 Download Selection window. 
  3. Click to remove the check marks for all options in the Quicken 2001 Download Selection window. Click Update Now. This causes the Quicken program to automatically look for an available update.
  4. When an update is available for the Quicken program you are using, the Quicken 2001 Download Summary window will appear, indicating that an update is available. Click Continue.
  5. A window which reads Free update available for your Quicken 2001 software will appear.
  6. Click Update Later.
  7. Close, and then reopen the Quicken program.
  8. Click the Help menu and select Download Latest Version.
  9. In the Quicken 2001 Update Utility window, click Update Now .
  10. Follow the update wizard instructions to complete the installation of the update.
  11. Once installation of the update is complete, ensure that it was successful by checking which release of Quicken is installed.
  12. If the download or installation of the update is not successful, use the Quicken 2001 Manual Update or call Quicken 2001 Technical Support at (520) 618-7155.

Note: If the Quicken 2001 program is uninstalled after updating to R3 and reinstalled from your original Quicken 2001 CD-ROM, you must also reinstall the update.
