Each Quicken 2000 product (Basic, Deluxe, and Home & Business) has its own specific update file. It is important that you match the correct update file to its associated Quicken product. Use the chart below to help you in this process.

Note: Before getting started it is important to verify that you are not already in the most current release of Quicken. Do this by checking which release of Quicken is installed.

Note: If you have not yet tried to update from within Quicken 2000, use the Quicken One Step Update feature.

Quicken 2000 Updates

Once you have determined which update file you need, use the following procedure to download the update.

1. Locate the Quicken 2000 program version you would like to update, and then click the corresponding Release 4 (R4) update file name on the right. 
2. A Save As window will appear. Choose a location on your computer to save the file to and click Save.

The Quicken 2000 program does not have to be installed on the computer you are using to download the update. This offers the convenience of being able to download the update file on a computer with Internet access yet install it on a different computer with Quicken 2000 installed.

Once the correct Quicken 2000 update has been downloaded, follow these steps to update your Quicken 2000 program:

Note: All online banking and investment sessions must be completed before updating your Quicken 2000 program.

1. Locate the update file on the computer Quicken 2000 is installed. 
2. Double-click the file to unzip.

Note: Intuit recommends that you unzip the file to your Quicken program directory\inet\common\patch\update. For most customers, this path is c:\quickenw\inet\common\patch\update.

3. Double-click the qwpatch.exe file, which is located in the update directory.
4. Follow the update wizard instructions to complete the installation.
5. Once the update has completed, check your Quicken 2000 program release to ensure it is now Release 4 (R4).

Note: If the Quicken 2000 program is uninstalled after updating to R4 and you reinstall Quicken from your original Quicken 2000 CD-Rom, you must also reinstall the update.
