Each Quicken 2003 product (Basic, Deluxe, Home & Business, and Premier) has its own specific update file. It is important that you match the correct update file to its associated Quicken product. Use the chart below to help you in this process.

Note: First, verify that downloading the manual update is actually necessary for your version of Quicken. Do this by checking which release of Quicken is installed. If your version of Quicken is already Release 3 (R3), the current release you will not need to apply the manual update.

Note: If you have not yet tried to update from within Quicken 2003, use the Quicken One Step Update feature.

Quicken 2003 Updates

Once you have determined which update file you need, use the following procedure to download the update.

1. Locate the Quicken 2003 program version you would like to update, and then click the corresponding Release 3 (R3) update file name on the right. 
2. A Save As window will appear. Choose a location on your computer to save the file to, and click Save.

The Quicken 2003 program does not have to be installed on the computer you are using to download the updates listed above. This offers the convenience of being able to download the update file on a computer with Internet access and install it on a different computer with Quicken 2003 installed.

Once the correct Quicken 2003 update has been downloaded, follow these steps to update your Quicken 2003 program:
Note: All online banking and investment sessions must be completed before updating your Quicken 2003 program.

1. Locate the update file on the computer that Quicken 2003 is installed. 
2. Double-click the file to unzip.
   Note: Intuit recommends that you unzip the file to your Quicken program directory \inet\common\patch\update directory. For most customers, this is c:\quickenw\inet\common\patch\update.
3. Double-click the qwpatch.exe file, which is located in the update directory.
4. Follow the update wizard instructions to complete the installation.
5. Once the update has completed, check your Quicken 2003 program release to ensure it is now Release 3 (R3).

Note: If the Quicken 2003 program is uninstalled after updating to R3 and reinstalled from your original Quicken 2003 CD-ROM, you must also reinstall the update.
