Quicken 99 for Windows - Manual Update

The Quicken 99 program does not have to be installed on the computer you are using in order to download this manual update file. This adds the convenience of being able to download the update file on one computer that has Internet access and move the file to a different computer where Quicken 99 is installed. The update files are sized to fit on a standard 1.44 MB capacity floppy disk (except the ones for Quicken Basic 99 and the Quicken 99 Limited Edition).

Note: Manual updates are available for Quicken 99 R4 only. Verify that you are not already using the R4 release. If you need help doing this, see Which release is installed?

Use the following procedure to download and install the Quicken 99 manual update file:

1. The Quicken 99 Updates table below shows the available R4 update files for each Quicken 99 version. Locate the Quicken 99 program version you want to update, and click on the corresponding R4 update file name. This will open a Save As window.
2. In the Save As window, choose a location (either a hard disk and folder location or the desktop) where the file will be stored on this computer. The Windows desktop is usually the default location, and is often the easiest. If the file will be used to update a Quicken program installed on this computer, we recommend downloading the file into the folder where the Quicken 99 program is installed.

Note: Each Quicken 99 version has its own specific update file, and it is important that the correct one be downloaded. After downloading, double-check to make sure the name of the file that was downloaded matches the name of the file in this table. (It may be helpful to print this page.)

Quicken 99 Updates

After the correct Quicken 99 update file has been downloaded, use the following procedure to update your Quicken 99 program:

1. Locate the update file on the computer where Quicken 99 is installed. If you need help with this, see Locating the update file.
2. Double-click the file icon to begin the Quicken 99 update process.
3. Follow the update wizard instructions to complete the Quicken 99 update installation.
4. After the update has completed, check your Quicken 99 program release to ensure it is now R4. 
5. Once you have completed the update to R4, update to R5. There is no manual update for R5, so you must update through Quicken.

Note: All online investment and banking sessions must be completed before updating the Quicken 99 program to R4.
