California Withholding Tax Change

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) is in the process of preparing revisions to the California PIT Withholding Schedules for 2009.

The changes are based on the Governor’s 2009-10 Budget approved by the Legislature and signed by Governor Schwarzenegger in February 2009.  Intuit is working closely with the EDD so that a Payroll Update can be scheduled to include the revised PIT Withholding Schedules in QuickPayroll as soon as they are available from the EDD.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I'm affected?

You may be affected if you currently withhold California income taxes from employees and make withholding tax payments in the State of California or if you currently have a valid California Employer Account Number.

When will these changes be available in QuickPayroll?

Once the revised PIT Withholding Schedules have been published by the EDD, a Payroll Update release will be scheduled to include the modified withholding tax tables.  We will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.
