Allowance Certificate Form D-4
Background:
District of
Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue recently updated Form D-4, Employee
Withholding Allowance Certificate. The Form D-4 is required for every new employee
who resides in DC and is required to have DC taxes withheld. The form can be
found at Office
of Tax and Revenue: Tax Forms and Publications.
The status
selections on Form D-4 have been changed as follows:
Ø Married
filing jointly changed
to Married/domestic partners filing jointly (matches Withholding tables
for Single Filers or Married Persons Filing Jointly)
Ø Married
filing separately on same return changed
to Married/domestic partners filing separately on same return
(matches
Withholding tables for Married Persons Filing Separate Return or Combined
Separate Return)
Note: Married/domestic partners filing
jointly shows as Married/dmstc
ptnr joint in QuickPayroll and Married/domestic partners filing
separately on same return shows as M/dmstc ptnr separate in QuickPayroll.

Setup to reflect the revised Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate, Form
D-4; Line 1 – Tax filing status.
