New Hampshire Announces Implementation of the Emergency Power Surcharge Rate
New Hampshire Department of Employment Security announced that effective April 1, 2009 the Emergency Power Surcharge Rate was implemented.
Background
The
Emergency Power Surcharge Rate of 0.50% is in effect from April 1, 2009
through December 31, 2009. On May 11, 2009, the New Hampshire Department of
Employment Security posted a Special
Notice regarding Employers’ Tax Rates providing details about the
Emergency Power Surcharge. The Special Notice also
addressed that the Fund Balance Reduction has been suspended for all of tax
year 2009.

How do I setup the Emergency Power Surcharge Rate in QuickPayroll?
The Emergency Power Surcharge Rate will need to be included in the total UI tax rate entered in QuickPayroll.
From the Payroll Item List, select NH - Unemployment Company, click Next to get to the Company tax rate screen. Enter the total Company rate, which includes the Emergency Power Surcharge rate, in the Company rate box. Continue to click Next, and then click Finish.
