North Dakota Issues New Withholding Tables for 2009

The North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner has published revised Withholding Tables for 2009, which are effective January 1, 2009.

Background

Senate Bill 2199 decreased personal income tax rates for 2009.  The revised 2009 Withholding Tables reflect the changes in the personal income tax rates, effective January 1, 2009.  The agency is requesting that employers begin using the revised 2009 Withholding Tables as soon as possible.  The agency has stated no retroactive adjustments are necessary for prior income tax withholding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I'm affected?

You may be affected if you currently withhold North Dakota income taxes from employees and make withholding tax payments in the State of North Dakota or if you currently have a valid ND Office of State Tax Commissioner Identification No.

Intuit QuickPayroll will modify the withholding tax tables in the next Payroll Update, #20916, to be released mid-June 2009.
