Q: How do I back up my company file?

A: QuickPayroll Backup compresses company data into a compact file that has the same file name as your company with the extension QPB, rather than QPS. To back up a QuickPayroll company data file, follow these steps:

  1. If you are backing up to a disk, insert it into the backup drive.
  2. From the File menu, choose Back Up. The current company file name will be in the File Name box.  In Windows 95, click the "Save In" drop-down list, and then choose the location for the backup file. Floppy disks usually go in either the A: or B: drive.
  3. If you are backing up to a disk and the backup file won’t fit on one disk; QuickPayroll will prompt you when it’s time to put in another disk.
  4. Click OK.
  5. If you are backing up to a disk that already contains a file with the same name, the message "Are you sure you want to delete the already existing file (drive, directory, file name.qpb)" will appear. Your options are Yes or No. If you choose Yes, QuickPayroll will overwrite the existing backup file. By choosing this option, the previous backup copy will no longer exist.  If you choose No, QuickPayroll will return you to the File Name
box of the Backup Company to.... window where you can enter a different file name.
