QuickPayroll - Software Updates

On December 31, 2009, the QuickPayroll service will be discontinued. As of that date, you will no longer get up-to-date tax tables or any new tax forms. However, you will be able to process payroll through 2009 as well as process all of your 2009 year-end forms with QuickPayroll.

What are my options? To ensure that you can start fresh in 2010, we recommend that you switch to a new service by 12/31/2009. Learn about two Intuit Payroll service options that may benefit your business by clicking here or by calling us at (877) 707-2779 between the hours of 6am and 6pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. If you do not take any action by 12/31/2009, a prorated refund will be issued for the unused portion of your QuickPayroll service after December 31, 2009.

Why is QuickPayroll being discontinued? Intuit is focusing our engineering efforts on a few key payroll offerings to make sure that we provide the best features and services for our customers. Click here for additional FAQs on this topic.

The latest Software Update of QuickPayroll is R13. If you do not have R13, you need to update your software.

To update your software using the self-executing update file, follow this procedure:

  1. Download the file qbcdstd.EXE. When prompted to download the file, select Save this program to disk, and then click OK

  2. Your browser may prompt you with a different file name, such as qbcdpro(1).EXE. The file must be saved as qbcdstd.EXE. The update will not work properly if the file is renamed.

  3. Save the file to your desktop.

  4. Exit all open applications, and turn off all TSRs.

  5. Find the update file (qbcdstd.EXE) on your desktop, and then double-click it. This will launch the QuickPayroll Update Utility program.

  6. Click Install.

  7. After the update is installed, start QuickPayroll.

  8. Click Try QuickPayroll.

  9. Open your company data file.

  10. Press CTRL+1 (1 over the Q key).

  11. Verify that the R13 update is installed by checking the top line of the Product Information screen.

  12. Click Subscribe, choose Subscribe To QuickPayroll, and then enter your Service Key.

  13. From the Help menu, select About QuickPayroll, and then press CTRL+T to reset the 45-day time clock.

Online Menu Update Instructions:

  1. From the Online menu, choose Connect for Service Updates. If you have not set up your Internet Connection to work with QuickPayroll, click Configure and follow the instructions.

  2. In the Connect for Service Updates window, click Go Online.

  3. The QuickPayroll Update Status window will display and show you what the Service is downloading and the estimated percentage of completion.

  4. You may click Cancel at any time, but you will not receive all updates if you do so.

  5. When the download is complete, check the New Updates section of the QuickPayroll Update Service window to see any updates you may have received.

Note: You must update QuickPayroll each time the program is uninstalled and reinstalled.
